Wesley R. Burnett Awarded Re-certification in Economic Development

Odessa, Texas (June 28, 2018) – Wesley R. Burnett, Director of Economic Development in Odessa, has been awarded re-certification by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) effective April 1, 2018. Burnett first achieved the Certified Economic Developer designation in 2003. CEcD re-certification, required every three years, was awarded to Burnett who met demanding requirements for continuing education and service to the profession. He has over 25 years of economic development experience.
The designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) is a highly recognized national recognition that denotes a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to professional growth. Burnett first earned certification by passing a rigorous three-part, two-day examination, testing his knowledge, proficiency and judgment in the key areas of economic development
As highly skilled economic development practitioners, Burnett and over 1,000 other Certified Economic Developers work with public officials, business leaders and community members to create and retain high-quality jobs, establish economic vibrancy, and improve quality of life for the people they serve.
Wesley Burnett is the Economic Development Director for the Odessa Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber contracts with the Odessa Development Corporation (ODC) to foster Odessa economic development and local business retention and expansion. The ODC provides job creation grants, capital investment grants and other incentives for businesses seeking to expand in Odessa.
