Real Talk

The Permian Basin Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse is bringing Real Talk, a panel event to inform parents, teachers, providers, and anyone involved in the life of a youth in our region about drugs in the environment of our youth.  There will be a Real Talk in both Odessa and Midland. Events are open to any adult in the public. We highly encourage parents and those involved in the life of a youth attend. 

Panelists are people in recovery who will share their stories. They will also provide tips on effectively communicating with youth and things they wish would have been done to intervene. There will be a Q&A session for the audience to ask the panelists any questions they may have. Local researchers will also provide data on substance use and local agencies will be present to provide resources.

Freight Study Workshop in the Permian Basin

TxDOT is conducting two study efforts that focus on truck parking and freight infrastructure design issues and solutions. These studies are part of the Texas Freight Mobility Plan implementation.

The purpose of the truck parking study is to assess and address truck parking needs with practical, innovative and cost-effective strategies. Texas' transportation system was built over multiple decades; even now, some of our roadways are not up to today's standards. Infrastructure design such as pavement, bridges, intersections and access to multimodal facilities will also be studied.

TxDOT is requesting the public sign up to attend the workshop to better understand attendance. Please register for this workshop and also take a quick online interactive survey about truck parking and infrastructure design issues on the www.movetexasfreight.com website.
