The long-awaited unveiling of the Chris Kyle Memorial Highway on 191 will take place on Tuesday, May 8 at 10 a.m. at the Chris Kyle Memorial Plaza (located on the VA/MCH Mission Fitness grounds.)
The Odessa Chamber of Commerce along with Rep. Brooks Landgraf, Senator Kel Seliger, Taya Kyle, widow of Chris Kyle, and members of the memorial statue committee and major donors will be present at the unveiling event.
In February of 2017, State Rep. Brooks Landgraf filed House Bill 1483 to name State Highway 191 in Ector County as the "Chris Kyle Memorial Highway."
Led by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Odessa Community Foundation, the Chris Kyle Memorial Plaza project, a 2,800 square-foot plaza in honor of Chris Kyle, Odessa native and Navy Seal, was publicly unveiled attracting national attention, in July 2016.
Kyle is considered one of the most lethal snipers in U.S. history, with 160 confirmed enemy kills. Chris Kyle spent countless hours as a leader helping his fellow veterans with their transition back into civilian life.
